Frozen and Broadway star Jonathan Groff was among the grand marshals of New York's Gay Pride parade, held on Sunday, June 29th. The actor joined fellow marshals "Orange Is the New Black"'s Laverne Cox and the executive director of the Gay and Lesbian Task Force, Rea Carey at the 44th annual event.
The event, which both celebrates the LGBT community as well as memorialize those lost to AIDS and hate crime, ran from 36th Street and Fifth Avenue all the way to Christopher and Greenwich Streets. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and "Scandal" star Dan Bucatinsky were also in attendance.
The parade was expected to draw thousands of spectators along the route. Last year's event included over 300 marching bands and 50 floats. New York's Gay Pride March also included activists, politicians, nonprofit organizations, corporate sponsors and community groups on its roster.
