Broadway's Tony Award-winning hit musical The Drowsy Chaperone welcomes Jonathan Crombie back to the Marquis Theatre as"Man in Chair" on Tuesday, August 21. Crombie assumes the role from Tony Award-winner John Glover, who will play his final performance on Sunday, August 19th before returning to shoot the seventh season of the hit CW series "Smallville." Crombie initially made his Broadway debut as "Man in Chair" from March 13th – April 22nd.

Jonathan Crombie is widely known for playing "Gilbert Blythe" in the popular Canadian mini-series "Anne of Green Gables." His Canadian credits include Oxford Roof Climber's Rebellion, Dishwashers (Tarragon); This Could Be Love (Artword); Ouch My Toe (Fringe); The Drowsy Chaperone as Gangster #2 (Fringe, TPM, Winter Garden); Romeo & Juliet, Oedipus Rex, Hamlet, Comedy of Errors (Stratford Festival); Arcadia, Last Romantics, What the Butler Saw (Canstage); Godspell (New Vic); Wimsey Madders (Flatzbo). His Film/TV credits include "Empty Room," "Good Fight," Café Romeo, Jeweller's Shop, Bullies, "Jane Show," "Slings & Arrows," "Powerplay," "Mount Royal," "The Day They Came to Arrest The Book," "Anne of Green Gables" (as Gilbert Blythe; 1, 2 & 3). He is also a member of sketch troupe Skippy's Rangers.

The most celebrated musical of the 2006 season and the recipient of thirteen major awards, The Drowsy Chaperone received the most 2006 Tony Awards of any musical -five in total, including Best Book and Best Score, seven Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, four Outer Critic's Circle Awards including Outstanding Scoreand the Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Musical.

The show is directed and choreographed by Tony Award-nominee Casey Nicholaw (Spamalot), with music and lyrics by Tony Award® winners Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison and a book by Tony Award-winners Bob Martin and Don McKellar.
