Canton Theatrical will present two staged presentations of PLOP, the all-new boy band musical about the meteoric rise of the super groups and pop princesses of the 1990s. Set against the backdrop of 90s pop music and suggested by the true story behind the sound that defined a generation, PLOP features music and lyrics by Damon Intrabartolo (bare, Fantastic Four, Superman Returns) and a revised book by Kenneth Finkle (Alive and Well, Indoor/Outdoor) with direction by Anthony J. Cantalupo.

When everybody's favorite pop band realizes they're the last to know their money's gone, the boys quit playing games and say bye bye bye to their shady manager in a larger than life tale of living in One Direction - no strings attached. PLOP is a modern-day showbiz musical - a Dreamgirls for the 90s - that takes the audience on a pulsating trip through pop decadence while paying homage to the Max Martin sound that defined an era.

The cast of PLOP will feature Tony Award nominee Jonathan C. Kaplan (Falsettos, The Diary of Anne Frank), Andre Ward (Rock of Ages, Xanadu), Michael Kostroff ("The Wire", The Disney Channel's "Sonny with a Chance"), Hayley Podschun (Hairspray, Anything Goes), Robert Hager (Spring Awakening, How To Succeed...), Josh Sassanella (Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark), Justin Bowen (Chaplin), EnRico Rodriguez (Rent, Zanna, Don't!), Courtney Reed (In the Heights, Mamma Mia!) and CJ Pawlikowski with Liz Froio, Sarah Nicole Ambrose and Jared Picone.

The PLOP creative team includes Jack DePalma (Duncan Sheik's Whisper House) as a creative consultant. Musical arrangements and orchestrations are by Special Guest Music Productions/Ethan Popp and Bryan Crook ("Smash", "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno"). Keith Caggiano (Rock of Ages, Spider-Man... associate) is the sound designer. Casting is by Tara Rubin Casting. Rachel Bauder and Mark Stys are the production stage managers. The composer, Damon Intrabartolo, will serve as musical director for these special presentations.

PLOP will be presented at 11am and 3pm today, January 11, 2013 at a Times Square location. Members of the industry may contact the producers at info@cantontheatrical.com to make a reservation or request further information.
