Kick off the Year of the Rooster with costumed folk dances, a lion dance, and a kung fu demonstration by professional dancers and students from the New York Chinese Cultural Center School of the Arts. The performers will explain the origin of the dances and their importance to Chinese culture today.
Budding artists will want to participate in an ink and brush painting workshop. Students will get to learn how to write with the brush and create their own paintings and Chinese symbols on rice paper.
To bring good luck, come dressed in red clothing as the ancient Chinese believed that the color red scared away the evil spirits.
The fun begins at 2pm with the folk dance performance followed by two sessions of the ink and brush workshop at 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm
Space is limited, please pick up your timed ticket at the front desk.
