Last year, John Travolta made was it now considered to be 'the flub heard round the world' during his introduction to Idina Menzel's performance of "Let It Go" at the 86th Annual Academy Awards.
To make up for the blunder, the two A-listers appeared onstage at Sunday night's Oscars to present an award together. During the appearance, Travolta caressed Menzel's face several times, a move considered by many to be awkward and uncomfortable.
Today, Travolta's rep tells PEOPLE that the gesture was planned ahead of time, in order to poke fun at the way his client BOTCHED the singer's name at last year's Awards. "It was rehearsed in total," Travolta's rep told PEOPLE. "John Travolta loved working with Idina Menzel. John had a great time at the Oscars because his wife, Kelly Preston, and his daughter, Ella, were in attendance with him."
Forever the good sport, the IF/THEN star took the incident in stride, even tweeting, "Surprise! That was so much fun. Thank you John Travolta for being a good sport. What an honor to be invited again. #lifeisgood."Photo courtesy of ABC
