John Tartaglia's IMAGINOCEAN!, a new family musical set in the depths of the ocean, will debut November 20, 2009 on Royal Caribbean's newest and most revolutionary cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas. Created and written specifically for the new vessel by Tony nominated actor, singer and puppeteer, John Tartaglia, IMAGINOCEAN! follows the adventure of a group of fish friends, who uncover a map which leads them to ultimately uncover the treasure of each other's friendship. John Tartaglia, Philip Katz of Broadway Theatrical and veteran musical theatre performer, Michael Shawn Lewis have teamed up to bring this innovative black light musical production to life on the high seas.
"This is truly an exceptional show that is full of wonder and magic and we couldn't be more thrilled than to open the first company of the show on the worlds newest and largest cruise ship Oasis of the Seas," said Philip Katz, Producing Director of Broadway Theatrical. "Guests of all ages will be totally taken by the story, the music and the show itself."
John Tartaglia's IMAGINOCEAN! takes audiences on a 30 minute magical underwater journey imagined only by master puppeteer himself, John Tartaglia. The whimsical production features music by composer William Wade and lovable and adorable characters built by the talented and innovative artists at The Puppet Kitchen in New York City. Broadway stage veteran, director and choreographer Donna Drake directs the cast of puppeteers who blend themselves seamlessly into the black light ocean floor setting the stage afloat and opening an enchanted world of aquatic adventures for the seafaring stars Dorsel, Tank and Bubbles.
"The show has just developed a life of its own." said show creator, John Tartaglia. "I think it touches on themes that everyone has a connection to; courage, adventure and friendship. There is nothing like this show and I know audiences are going to embrace it".
IMAGINOCEAN! is the latest brain child of John Tartaglia, creator, executive producer and star of "Johnny and the Sprites" (now airing worldwide). Earning a Tony Award nomination for his performance in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Avenue Q, for which he originated the roles of Princeton and Rod, Tartaglia was most recently seen on Broadway appearing as Pinocchio in the smash Broadway hit Shrek The Musical and previouslystarred as Lumiere in Disney's Beauty and the Beast . A 10-year veteran of "Sesame Street," Tartaglia is one of the youngest puppeteers ever to perform on the show, starting at the age of 16.
