John Tartaglia, who earned a Tony Award nomination for his performance in Avenue Q (where he currently serves as Resident Director), Emmy Award nomination for Playhouse Disney's Johnny and the Sprites, Drama Desk nomination for John Tartaglia's ImaginOcean, and has twelve seasons of experience on Sesame Street (where he continues to guest star), today announced that he'll be holding an all new master class intensive in theatre and television-style puppetry.

The intensive, intended for puppeteers 16 and up with previous experience, will meet at Pearl Studios for two full day sessions, June 16th and 23rd. Topics to be covered include one-on-one training, monitor work, theatrical techniques, group scene work, musical performances, finding and developing characters, dramatic acting with puppets, subtleties of movement, and much more. Another session of our "beginners in puppetry" class will be announced at a later date.

In the past several months, John Tartaglia Puppetry has received requests from puppet designers, in addition to standalone performers. Responding to that, for the first time, the Intensive is proud to welcome Bonnie Erickson (former Design Director of The Muppets, and current Executive Director of The Jim Henson Legacy) as a special guest instructor, for a discussion of her work as well as design and building techniques. While not required, students are invited to bring their own work for feedback and critique. Bonnie's time with us will supplement our performance based curriculum.
