Because of a last-minute change in his travel schedule, John Tartaglia (Avenue Q) will not be appearing in THE MARCY & ZINA SHOW at Birdland tonight. The show, however, will go on as scheduled at 7pm.
The New York-based award-winning songwriting team of composer, Zina Goldrich and lyricist, Marcy Heisler are bringing The Marcy & Zina Show to BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street) for a one-night only performace Monday, March 7, 2005. They will be joined by Julia Murney (Lennon and The Wild Party), Ana Gasteyer ("Saturday Night Live"), composer/performers Amanda Green & Tom Kitt, Scott Coulter and many more. This evening is part of The Winter Season, presented by Jim Caruso in association with TheaterMania.com, which features top Broadway and cabaret performers at the world-class music room. There is a $25 cover and $10 food/drink minimum.
Goldrich and Heisler have toured both nationally and internationally performing their music at some of the world's most prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Canada's "Juste Pour Rire" comedy festival and the Kennedy Center. Their song, "Taylor, the Latte Boy" has been recorded by Christiane Noll and Susan Egan, and will be featured on Kristin Chenoweth's upcoming Sony release in March. Their body of work has garnered them many outstanding songwriter awards including 4 MAC Awards, 2 Bistro Awards, and several grants for their musical theatre projects. Their 32-song folio, Goldrich and Heisler Vol.1, was published last year and is already in its second printing. In 2004, they authored Junie B. Jones for Theatreworks USA, which enjoyed a six-week run at the Lucille Lortel Theatre as part of New York's Free Summer Theatre Program and is currently touring the country. They are currently authoring songs for Disney Toon Studios, and a romantic comedy entitled I Dated Them So You Don't Have To.
