John Logan has adapted 'Max Perkins: Editor of Genius' into a screenplay, entitled GENIUS, Hollywood.com reports.  The film will deal with "the titular eccentric editor-in-chief of New York publishing house Scribner, who published the works of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Earnest Hemingway, and other literary luminaries," especially his relationship with Thomas Wolfe, the website reports.

Sean Penn is in discussions to star in the film, which will be directed by Bill Pohlad.

John Logan is the author of RED, for which he won the 2010 Tony Award for Best Play; his other plays include NEVER THE SINNER, HAUPTMANN, and RIVERVIEW.  His screenplays include 'Sweeney Todd,' 'The Aviator,' 'The Time Machine,' and 'Gladiator.'
