Actor John Christopher Morton stars as a conflicted whistleblower in the title role of the new political satire feature film, AUGUST LUCEY. The indie film will make its World Premiere in New York City on May 11th at the Workers Unite! Film Festival, an annual event celebrating global labor solidarity.

AUGUST LUCEY tells THE STORY of a young man trying to find his political identity and make sense of his life. A frustrated poet now working in pharmaceutical advertising, August Lucey (Morton) becomes a whistleblower to expose unethical drug testing. After leaving his job to join a group of radicals living off the grid, August must come to terms with the fact that he doesn't fit in to this new world.

Written and directed by Dylan Latimer and Jesse Karch, Morton was thrilled at the opportunity to join the project and bring the character August Lucey to life. Morton explains, "This is THE STORY of someone dealing with the conflict of working a job and doing what they think is expected of them, while having fantasies about living a life that is more in line with their politics and desire to be a creative person. Is there a way to resolve this conflict? How do you find yourself if you feel like you don't fit in anywhere?"

Based in New York, Morton has been gaining attention on the indie scene for years. Most notably, he portrayed the alien disguised as a Mormon missionary in Caleb Emerson's (Die You Zombie Bastards!) fantasy-odyssey-dark comedy crossover feature film Frankie In Blunderland. He can also be spotted playing with his former band Lycaon Pictus in Austin Chick's (XX/XY, August) festival darling Girls Against Boys.

On television, Morton appeared alongside Louis C.K. while getting beaten up by professional boxer Heather 'The Heat' Hardy in the Emmy award-winning FX series Louie. Previously, he portrayed well-known character actor Daniel Stern for Biography Channel's Celebrity Ghost Stories. Morton has also acted in many Theater Productions as a member of the New York-based UNDERGROUND Dome Theatre Company, of which Latimer and Karch are also members.

Morton first began his creative journey studying music at Bard College. After graduating, he made his way to the Big Apple, gaining momentum as a DJ of electronic and experimental music and forming the post punk band Lycaon Pictus. Their "Rough Telephone" EP was named one of the 'Top 10 Singles of the Year' by the Village Voice and the group was voted 'Best Local Emo Band' in the New York Press Best of Manhattan Reader's Choice poll. After years of success and the release of their fourth album, the band made the decision to split up allowing Morton to focus his energy on his acting career.
