On Monday, December 4, The Color Purple star Elisabeth Withers will perform at Joe's Pub at 7 PM.

"It all starts with the voice. A soulful instrument that is both powerful yet strikingly vulnerable; an engaging gift that transcends musical genres and industry trends. For acclaimed performer Elisabeth Withers, that voice and all-around talent garnered her a prestigious Tony Award nomination for her role as the seductive scene-stealer Shug Avery in Oprah Winfrey's Broadway mega-hit The Color Purple," state Joe's Pub notes.

"Now the Joliet, Illinois-born singer/songwriter is set to release her debut solo album, 'It Can Happen To Anyone,' on the legendary Blue Note Records. Like Elisabeth's much-lauded theatrical work, the album represents a labor of love for the vocalist who has worked with the likes of the late great Luther Vandross, Mary J. Blige, Brenda Russell and Cher."

Tickets are $20.  To listen to a sample track of Withers singing "Be With You," visit this link.
