Tonight, October 2, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at the Seagram Building Plaza (375 Park Avenue), hundreds of guests will join Studio in a School Founder Agnes Gund, event co-chairmen Caroline Kennedy, Samantha Boardman Rosen and Vito Schnabel to celebrate the organization's 35th anniversary of service to New York City's Public School system. The event will be emceed by Academy and Tony Award-winning actor and photographer, Joel Grey.
An outdoor tent erected on the building's plaza will be lined with artwork created by the program's students over the past 35 years. The event will honor renowned artist and STUDIO champion Jeff Koons and STUDIO's President & CEO, Tom Cahill. An artist himself, Cahill has devoted more than 30 years working alongside Agnes Gund to deliver critical arts education throughout New York City's public schools.
Studio in a School was founded in 1977 in response to budget cuts that virtually eliminated arts education in New York City's public schools. For 35 years, it has fostered creative and intellectual development in more than 800,000 children through visual arts programs that are developed and conducted by professional artists.
