"Things to Ruin: the Songs of Joe Iconis" will play Joe's Pub on January 29th at 7:30pm.
The evening will be presented by Temporary Theatre Company and directed by John Simpkins.
"'Things to Ruin' is an evening of incendiary songs about porn stars, panic attacks, drug runs and true love featuring Joe's unique collision of musical theater and unadulterated rock. Performed by a cast of viciously talented young singers and a highly flammable four-piece band led by Joe himself, 'Things to Ruin' will rock your world with an occasionally profane and always heartfelt explosion of music and high drama," state press materials on the show, which was previously seen at Ars Nova and NYMF.
The cast includes Michael Kadin Craig (60's Project at Goodspeed's Norma Terrace Theatre), Katrina Rose Dideriksen (Tracy in original Vegas cast of Hairspray), Badia Farha (Sister Act The Musical), Matt Hinkley (tick, tick...BOOM! regional), Lance Rubin (The Opposite of Sex, Williamstown Theatre Festival), Jason Williams (Beware of Dog, Istanbul International Theatre Festival), and Dana Zihlman Harshaw (Hairspray, Northshore)
Iconis, who received his MFA from the NYU/Tisch Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program, is the recipient of a 2006 Jonathan Larson Award and a 2006 Daryl Roth Award. His garage-band rock musical The Black Suits, for which he wrote music, lyrics, and co-wrote the book with Robert Maddock, will be seen next year at MCC.
