Seattle-based composer/performer/producer Jherek Bischoff may have already had a whirlwind of a year, but he isn't ready to slow down just yet.

Jherek is releasing an instrumental version of his critically acclaimed album 'Composed' (picked as one of the year's best albums so far by WNYC's John Schaefer and praised by the likes of NewMusicBox, Pitchfork, KEXP, and more), which will be called Scores: Composed Instrumentals and issued as a Bandcamp exclusive on September 18th via Brassland. Without the vox of David Byrne, Craig Wedren and other luminaries who feature on the original Composed album, Scores: Composed Instrumentals offers a new and rewarding way to explore Jherek's work as a composer, arranger and producer. It's like scraping off a lovely painting and finding an entirely new lovely painting underneath. And for the note nerds out there, digital scores for the album will also be available for purchase alongside the release so folks can play the songs on their own, and maybe even upload performances to YouTube like Jherek hinted on his blog. The album is also planned for release through iTunes and Amazon down the line.

Meanwhile, Jherek will once again travel across North America and Europe with the singular Amanda Palmer. Jherek will be doing double duty just as he did on their tour together this summer: after performing his own opening set with a full string quartet (a new one assembled in every city), he'll then join Amanda on stage as a bass-wielding member of her Grand Theft Orchestra. Not for nothing, he also plays on Amanda's million-dollar-plus-Kickstarter-raising new album, Theatre is Evil, out September 11th. All tour dates below.

Finally, Jherek will top off a banner year with two special performances this December. The first features Jherek returning home to Seattle to perform works from Composed and more at The Moore Theater on December 1st (event link).

The second is a free event on December 20th in New York City at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center and features the world debut of a new 30-minute long piece by Jherek that was commissioned by Lincoln Center. The work will be performed by yMusic— known for being equally comfortable in the overlapping classical and pop music worlds and most recently, performing on Dirty Projectors' Swing Lo Magellan—Deerhoof percussionist Greg Saunier, as well as Bischoff himself. The performances are part of Target Free Thursdays and will take place at 7:30pm and 9:30pm on the Atrium's Roy Furman Stage (event link).

In the meantime, check out the newly released live video for "Young and Lovely", featuring Zac Pennington from the Parenthetical Girls (ahem, whose new album also features Mr. Bischoff), Sam Mickens and the Wordless Music Orchestra here.
