Tonight, October 5 at 7:30 PM, The Ware Center, Millersville University - 42 North Prince Street, Lancaster, PA -- presents "Night of Stand-Up Comedy" featuring comics Jess Carpenter, Valerie DeMimbro, Jimmy Graham and Julia Scotti.
Back by popular demand, JESS CARPENTER serves as the evening's host for the third time. He studied improv in New York and Philadelphia and was a founding member of Iron Lung Improv. His biggest accomplishment in comedy so far is his monthly double-bill title "The Not Just Comedy Show" and "Comedian Destruction," which has been described by Philadelphia critics as "the best comedy show in town." Jess also has a weekly open mic called "R Mic!" http://jesscarpentercomedian.com/
VALERIE DIMAMBRO has been performing in the New York City and Philadelphia area for the past 7 years. She is an autobiographical comedian - using her own personal shortcomings and triumphs to get this party started. Valerie's personal humor and charming disposition has made her a breath of fresh air in these cynical times. Her comedy has been known to be "really funny - no, but seriously, really funny." Valerie performs all over the northeast and has been seen on stage at Helium Comedy Club, New York Comedy Club, and the Broadway Comedy Club.
"Roundboy" JIMMY GRAHAM has been tearing up the stand-up stage for two decades. His career began as a member of the The Murderers' Row, a group ofraw edge comics with members of the Howard Stern Show which developed into The Artie Lange & Friends Tour with stops at Caroline's in NY, Zanie's in Chicago, The Egg in Albany, and The Suncoast in Vegas. Now, as a soloist, Jimmy is a regular headliner for Catch A Rising Star in Princeton, Atlantic City, and Reno as well as Catch's Stand-Up Instructor, teaching and coaching the talented newcomers in comedy.
In between his national touring dates, Jimmy has made many television and Radio appearance such as The Ricky Lake Show, The Manhouse (Comedy Central), The Keeler Show (FOX), Opie & Anthony (XM), Kid Kris (WYSP), Scotty & Alex (WYSP), Angelo Cattaldi (WIP), and Steve Trevelise (WIP). He has also filmed dozens of commercials seen on ABC, CBS, NBC, A&E, Bio, WB, FOX, Food Network, and SpikeTV; thus, movies were the inevitable next step with his role with Disney's "Invincible."
JULIA SCOTTI, formerly known as Rick Scotti, has been performing stand-up comedy since 1980. At the start of her career, she toured throughout the United States and Canada, headlining clubs as Rick Scotti. She has also appeared on Comedy Central and was the winner of Showtime's "The Funniest Person in America" contest for the state of New Jersey.
In 2000, Julia left the stage as she began her life altering transition. Now, ten years later, she's back with a vengeance, exploding the stage with her high energy, highly manic, and highly funny persona. Most recently, Julia was proud to be the first transgender comedian and finalist in the "Ladies of Laughter" competition held in New York City, and she has also been named by the Advocate as one of the "Top 5 Hottest Transgender Comedians of 2013". Scotti has since found a comfortable mix between her life journey jokes and riffs on family, being a woman, and trying to make a love life work.
Now, Julia is currently in the process of developing her own one-woman show, The Woman with XY Vision, and she just finished shooting a TV pilot No Man's Land. http://www.juliascotti.com/
