About Michael
Michael Longoria is a new singer-songwriter on the rise. A native California boy, Michael grew up in a house of music guided by his mother who, in the 70's, played keyboard and sang in a cover band called "Brown Image".
He and his mother performed a duo act that toured southern California performing concerts of mariachi music at festivals and outdoor fairs. As an early teen, Michael was accepted into a magnet high school for the Arts in Los Angeles, where he studied jazz, gospel, musical theater and choral music.
At 17, Michael received a scholarship to study Acting at NYU's Tisch school of the Arts and moved to New York City. His acting landed him several job opportunities in the United States and touring companies overseas. Back in New York City, during a dry spell, Michael became frustrated with the commercialism of the theater scene and was in search of the art he once knew as a younger artist.
While at a party, he picked up a friend's guitar and thus began the spark. But it wasn't until he bought his first guitar in 2003 that he found his gift for song-writing. During his down time backstage performing in the Broadway musical Hairspray, Michael experimented with melodies reminiscent of Stevie Wonder and India Irie to the backing of his folky-pop guitar sound.
Writing from the heart of personal stories, his songs tell intimate tales of life thru complex lyrics. His music inspires audiences to think beyond the catchy melodies he creates with his unique, soulful tenor. From the journal entry to the New York City music scene, Michael brings his new style of vocal flexibility & control in an all new original fusion of Pop, Folk, and Soul.
