On Friday, July 27, All Out Arts will present a reading of "8" by Dustin Lance Black, as a part of its Fresh Fruit Festival. Directed by Brian Maschka, the cast features Jenn Colella, Rick Elice, Mark Fisher, Patrick Hustad, Dan Lauria, Susan O'Connor, Karen Oster, Destan Owens, Roger Rees, Al Sapienza, and David Turner.

With license from the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER) and Broadway Impact, "8" is a play chronicling the historic trial in the federal constitutional challenge to California's Proposition 8, written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter and AFER Founding Board Member Dustin Lance Black. Marriage Equality USA will participate in a Panel Discussion following the reading.

"8" is an unprecedented account of the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger (now Perry v. Brown), the case filed by AFER to overturn Proposition 8, which stripped gay and lesbian Californians of the fundamental freedom to marry.
