Jeffry Denman to Launch New Theatrical Company, Denman Theatre & Dance Co

Jeffry Denman, has announced the launch of his brand new theatrical company, Denman Theatre & Dance Co., a company dedicated to blending the multi-faceted aspects of theater with movement and dance as its primary story telling device. The announcement took place yesterday at THE VINE, a Laurent Tourondel restaurant located inside the Eventi Hotel, where a launch party was held to celebrate the event.

"DTDC is dedicated to developing hybrid theatrical works utilizing movement and dance as a primary storytelling device," founder and executive director Jeffry Denman explained at the launch. "We will blend dance with other storytelling mediums such as straight drama, musical theatre, classical ballet, opera and circus; whatever mediums we need to tell a particular story". In its mission to further expand and examine the legacy of the great moving storytellers of past generations, DTDC is committed to foster contemporary artists to develop creative works in an innovative and creatively satisfying way. In citing the works of Cole, Robbins, Graham, Balanchine, Fosse, DeMille, Astaire, and Ailey, DTDC calls on the performing arts community without segregation of craft but a collaboration or trade, tradition and technique to deliver multifaceted pieces to new audiences.

In its first work under the auspice of Denman Theatre & Dance Co.. Denman will produce The Donner Party Project, presented in association with Broadway Dance Lab, under the direction of Josh Prince, later this month. This new work is a dance theatre hybrid that portrays the harrowing, true story of the infamous group of pioneers and the trials they faced in the Sierra Nevada Mountains during the winter of 1846 and will employ an ensemble provided by Prince during the upcoming Broadway Dance Lab workshopping cycle.
