Beginning on January 25th, Wicked star Jeffrey Kuhn will assume the role of Sir Bedevere in the Broadway production of Monty Python's Spamalot.
He will join current cast members Jonathan Hadary as King Arthur, Marin Mazzie as the Lady of the Lake, Lewis Cleale as Sir Galahad, Chris Hoch as Sir Lancelot, Martin Moran as Sir Robin, Michael McGrath as Patsy and Tom Deckman as Historian/Prince Herbert. He will succeed Steve Rosen as Sir Bedevere.
Spamalot is written by Eric Idle and is lovingly ripped off from the motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. Spamalot features lyrics and a Grammy Award-winning score by Eric Idle and long-time Python collaborator John Du Prez. The show is directed by Oscar and Tony Award-winning legend Mike Nichols.
With choreography by Casey Nicholaw, Monty Python's Spamalot features sets and costumes by Tony Award-winner Tim Hatley, lighting design is by Hugh Vanstone and sound design is by ACME Sound Partners.
Monty Python's Spamalot, which opened on Broadway on March 17th, 2005, has been honored with dozens of awards, including the Grammy Award for Best Original Cast Recording and three Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The original cast recording is available on Decca Broadway.
On Broadway, Jeffrey Kuhn has appeared as Giuseppe Zangara in the Tony Award winning production of Stephen Sondheim's Assassins, as Boq in Wicked and in the original company of Ragtime. Most recently, he appeared opposite Tony winner Brent Carver in Neil Bartram and Brian Hill's The Story of My Life, directed by Michael Bush. He also recently played Charlotte von Mahlsdorf and her coterie of friends and foes in I Am My Own Wife for Stageworks in Hudson, NY. Off-Broadway, he appeared as Cliff Roney in the Playwrights Horizons concert staging of Adam Guettel and Tina Landau's Floyd Collins. He has also appeared in many regional productions.
