On March 21 at 7pm, Jean-Rene Toussaint will present THE VOICE AFTER ARTAUD AND GROTOWSKI: A LECTURE AND DEMONSTRATION at Theaterlab, 137 West 14th St., New York, NY 10011. The event is free.

The lecture presentation will explain why the voice looks so complex and uncontrollable and why it is so personal and emotional. It will explore the voice's function as a mirror of our personality, but not as a passive picture of who we are.

Jean-Rene Toussaint has been inspired by the life and work of Antonin Artaud and by director Jerzy Grotowski, who saw in the voice a particular material to fullfill the theater act, and a process to challenge the actor to be the support of it.

There will be demonstrations of extraordinary voices and of body freedom.
