SubCulture, the music and performing arts venue in downtown Manhattan, is pleased to announce the return of their Artist-In-Residence concert series from Tony Award-winning composer and lyricist Jason Robert Brown. The series opens on January 25th with Emmy- nominated guest artist Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt; Jersey Boys and The Little Mermaid on Broadway).
As he did with the series in 2015, MR. Brown (winner of the 2014 Tony Awards for Best Score and Best Orchestrations for The Bridges of Madison County) will curate each performance, incorporating an eclectic mix of material featuring music from throughout his acclaimed career along with new works in development, as well as an array of special guests.
The inaugural season of MR. Brown's concert series was a success with fans and critics alike, and guest artists included such musical theater luminaries as Kelli O'Hara, Steve Pasquale, Norbert Leo Butz, Tom Kitt, Tony Danza, Laura Benanti, and Cynthia Erivo.
"For me, and for thousands of other people in NY, SubCulture is an essential part of the cultural pulse of the city. My residency there has been one of the most artistically satisfying and emotionally electric experiences of my life, and I can't wait to keep pushing and stretching in the New Year."
"We couldn't be more excited to continue this amazing collaboration with Jason," said SubCulture co-owner, Marc Kaplan. "While we always imagined that the series would be absolutely phenomenal, the 2015 concerts still exceeded our wildest expectations. The level of artistry brought to each performance was simply stunning, and we can't wait to see what Jason comes up with for 2016."
Tickets for the the January 25th concert, along with concerts on February 20th and March 14th (guests still to be announced) go on sale to the general public on Monday, December 21st.
