The Muny announced today its complete cast for Stephen Sondheim (music and lyrics) and James Lapine's (book) Into The Woods, playing July 21-27. The production will be directed by Gary Griffin, choreographed by Chris Bailey and music directed by Brad Haak.
"For The Muny premiere of Into The Woods, we set out to create a 'Fantasy Broadway' cast, and I think we got it," commented Muny Artistic Director and Executive Producer Mike Isaacson. "This promises to be a magical evening at The Muny."
Joining previously announced Heather Headley (Witch), Erin Dilly (Baker's Wife), Rob McClure (Baker), Ken Page (Narrator), Andrew Samonsky (Cinderella's Prince/Wolf) and Ryan Silverman (Rapunzel's Prince) will be Jason Gotay (Jack), Ellen Harvey (Cinderella's Stepmother), Sara Kapner (Little Red Ridinghood), Samantha Massell (Rapunzel), Michael McCormick (Mysterious Man/Cinderella's Father) and Zoe Vonder Haar (Jack's Mother). Rounding out this incredible cast are Anna Blair (Granny/Cinderella's Stepmother), Jennifer Diamond (Florinda), Gary Glasgow (Steward), Maggis Lakis (Milky White) and April Strelinger (Lucinda).
Winner of 5 Tony Awards, Into The Woods intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales and follows them to explore the consequences of the characters' wishes and quests. Journey with the Baker and his wife, as they work to lift the Witch's spell with the help of Little Red Ridinghood, Jack, Rapunzel, Cinderella and others.
Scenic design is by Michael Schweikardt, costume design by Andrea Lauer, lighting design by Rob Denton, sound design by John Shivers and Hugh Sweeney, video design by Matthew Young, and wig design is by Leah Loukas. Production stage manager is Monica Dickhens.
The Muny's production of Into The Woods (July 21 - 27) is the fifth show in its 2015 summer season and is proudly sponsored by BMO Harris Bank.
HEATHER HEADLEY (Witch) Tony and Grammy Award winner Heather Headley considers her multi-faceted career a blessing. In 1997, Heather won the role of Nala in the original Broadway cast of The Lion King. While still in The Lion King, Heather was asked to audition for the title role in Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida, for which she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She also received the coveted Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical. In 2009, her album, "Audience of One" won the Grammy Award for best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album. In 2012 Heather received an Olivier Award nomination for her portrayal of Rachel Marron in the West End production of The Bodyguard.

Recently, Rob received a Drama League Award nomination for playing Jack Singer in Jason Robert Brown's Honeymoon in Vegas on Broadway last season. For playing the title role in Broadway's Chaplin, Rob received Tony, Drama League, Outer Critics, and Astaire Award nominations, and won the Theater World and Clive Barnes Awards. KEN PAGE (Narrator) New York, Paris and London audiences have enjoyed Ken in such shows as the Original Broadway Casts of Cats (Old Deuteronomy, DVD), Ain't Misbehavin' (Drama Desk Award), Guys and Dolls (Nicely Nicely, Theatre World Award), as well as Children of Eden, The Wiz, Ain't Nothin' But the Blues, Wizard of Oz and My One and Only among many others. His film roles include The Nightmare Before Christmas (V.O. Oogie Boogie), Dreamgirls (Max Washington), and Torch Song Trilogy (Murray), etc. His writing/ directing work Cafe Chanson earned four St. Louis Theater Circle Award nominations and his new writing/directing production Sublime Intimacy will be seen this winter here in St. Louis.

RYAN SILVERMAN (Rapunzel's Prince) Ryan recently received his 2nd Drama Desk nomination for his starring role in the Broadway production of Sideshow. He previously received Drama Desk and Drama League nominations for his role as Giorgio in CSC's production of Passion. Ryan's additional Broadway credits include Billy Flynn in Chicago and as Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera (including Las Vegas). Ryan starred as Lancelot in Camelot at The Kennedy Center and has also been featured in Music in the Air (Karl) at Encores!; Cry-Baby (Cry Baby u/s) on Broadway and The Most Happy Fella (Al) at New York City Opera. ZOE VONDER HAAR (Jack's Mother) is thrilled to be part of the 2015 Muny Season. Zoe toured in the first international company of A Chorus Line, and has since appeared in more than 100 productions. Favorite roles: Mama Rose in Gypsy; Mame in Mame; Dolly in Hello, Dolly! (Kevin Kline Award); Mrs. Higgins in My Fair Lady (Kevin Kline nomination) and Ms. Pennywise in Urinetown (Kevin Kline nomination). After playing Louise in Always...Patsy Cline (Judy and Theater Circle Awards),Zoe will return to Stages St. Louis as Jeanette in The Full Monty. She is a cast member of The American Musical and Winter Wonderland. She teaches dance, directs and choreographs at several area schools.

JENNIFER DIAMOND (Florinda) is thrilled to return to The Muny after 2013's Les Miserables. Since then, she was seen touring all over the world with Kristin Chenoweth as a featured performer appearing in venues ranging from The Sydney Opera House to The Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall. She's also made numerous New York concert appearances including as Lucy in Jekyll & Hyde and numerous other performances. Next up, Jennifer will be making her 54 Below debut in her fist solo show on 11/1.
MAGGIE LAKIS (Milky White) Muny debut. Recent work includes Duncan Sheik and Nell Benjamin's new musical, Because of Winn-Dixie, at Delaware Theatre Co., and John Doyle's Allegro at Classic Stage Company. She performed in the first national tour of Avenue Q, as well as the current off-Broadway production at New World Stages. Regional work includes Clybourne Park; Sunday in the Park with George (Arden Theatre); Tin Pan Alley Rag (Wilma Theatre); Sylvia and All My Sons at DTC. Also, Our Show of Shows (Flat Rock Playhouse), and Little Shop of Horrors (11th Hour Theatre), for which she received a Barrymore nomination for Best Actress in a Musical.
APRIL STRELINGER (Lucinda) was most recently seen at The Muny last summer as Mrs. Mayor in Seussical and Ernestina Money in Hello, Dolly! Off-Broadway and regional roles: Ethel in Best Foot Forward, Jessica in Fast Breaks: The Comings and Goings of Sweet Valley High, Cathy in The Last Five Years, Aldonza in Man of La Mancha, Shelly in Bat Boy, and Dot in Sunday in the Park with George.
