On March 30, Homeboy Industries, the preeminent gang rehabilitation and re-entry organization in the world, will celebrate their Annual Lo Máximo Awards Dinner. This event is the organization's largest fundraiser of the year. The Homeboy community of supporters, stakeholders, volunteers and friends will gather at the JW Marriott in downtown Los Angeles. The evening will highlight the thousands of formerly gang-involved or previously incarcerated men and women who have developed the strength and skills to transform their lives and become contributing members of society through the organization's holistic services and job-training programs.

The evening will be hosted by Homeboy Industries Board Member, Jane Fonda, and her longtime friend and co-star, actress Lily Tomlin.

"Lily and I are honored to host this year's Lo Maximo Awards, support the work of Homeboy Industries and especially to celebrate all of the courageous women and men of Homeboy who have found the strength to overcome their pasts through Homeboy's work," said actress and activist Jane Fonda. "We look forward to this exciting celebration of a remarkable organization."

This year, Governor Jerry Brown, politician will be honored with the Kinship Award. Fabian Debora, artist and community activist will be honored with the Homeboy Hero Award for his incredible support and dedication to the men and women of Homeboy Industries and the Los Angeles community.

Last year's Kinship Award went to Monica and Phil Rosenthal and recent event honorees have included Chef Thomas Keller, Jami Gertz, the principals involved in the television series Southland, and Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck.

Artist, social activist, and teacher Fabian Debora will receive this year's Homeboy Hero Award.

"It's an honor to get the call from Father Greg, be our Homeboy Hero. Of course, it was a yes," said Debora. "For me, it's now about giving back. The building blocks of this movement that I learned at Homeboy, the importance of hope, kinship, community and love, I carry these with me in all of the work that I now do. It's amazing to represent all of the past and future homeboys and homegirls and all of the committed staff members who carry the programs and steward the organization in kinship."

Fabian will have two prints available for sale the evening of the event and afterward, exclusively through Homeboy. Proceeds from the sale will go the Homeboy Industries.

"As we culminate the celebration of our 30 years of work in Los Angeles, we are thrilled to be joined by activists and icons Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as our hosts. Jane and Lily model qualities that are central to our work and their support of our organization means a great deal to us," said Greg Boyle, Founder of Homeboy Industries, "It also seems fitting who we are honoring this year, Governor Jerry Brown walks the walk and believes in second chances. As Governor, he commuted the sentences of over 20 people who have come through the Homeboy program in recent years. And with Fabian, we see in the flesh what can happen with second chances. How a person can grow, change and re-identify their resilience. Fabian is now a community leader and advocate for second chances and the power of healing."

This year's Lo Maximo Awards will take place at the JW Marriott at L.A. Live in Downtown Los Angeles on the evening of Saturday, March 30, 2019. For more information or to purchase tickets, please click here.
