Jan Maxwell, Stephanie Janssen, et al. Set for Potomac Theatre Project's 2011-12 Season

PTP/NYC, formerly known as The Potomac Theatre Project, in association with Middlebury College, proudly presents its 25th repertory season, its 5th consecutive in New York, running from July 5 - 31, 2011 in a limited engagement at The Atlantic Stage 2, located at 330 West 16th Street between 8th & 9th Avenues in New York City. This season's Off-Broadway line-up includes: the U.S. Premiere of Howard Barker's Victory: Choices in Reaction, starring four-time Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk Award-winner Jan Maxwell in her 4th collaboration with PTP, directed by PTP's Co-Artistic Director and NYIT Award nominee Richard Romagnoli (American Associate of The Wrestling School); the U.S. Premiere of Steven Dykes' Territories, two stories of politics and desire, The Spoils and a light gathering of dust, directed by PTP's Co-Artistic Director Cheryl Faraone; and a revival of Neal Bell's Spatter Pattern: or, How I Got Away With It, directed by PTP's Co-Artistic Director Jim Petosa.

FULL REPERTORY SCHEDULE:

Howard Barker's Victory: Choices in Reaction is a comic, bawdy, passionate play set amid the chaos of the Restoration in 1660. Bradshaw, the widow of a Republican intellectual, discovering the fate of her husband's body, sets out on a journey of personal exploration. Victory is a play about self-knowledge and personal survival in a disorderly and scandalous epoch of English history.

The cast includes Jan Maxwell (The Royal Family, Coram Boy and Lend Me a Tenor on Broadway, Scenes From An Execution with PTP, Follies at Kennedy Center) as Bradshaw, David Barlow (Horizon at NY Theatre Workshop, Oroonoko with Theater for a New Audience, Scenes From An Execution with PTP), Alex Cranmer (ESPN's The Bronx Is Burning, No End of Blame and A Question Of Mercy with PTP), Steven Dykes, Robert Emmet Lunney (The Graduate on Broadway, The Europeans and Gary the Thief with PTP), Robert Zukerman, Michael Kessler, Michaela Lieberman, Willy McKay, Edelen McWilliams, Mat Nakitare and Ele Woods.

Victory: Choices in Reaction begins previews July 12 for a July 15 opening and runs through July 31. Performances take place on Tue 7/12 at 7:30pm, Thu 7/14 at 2:30pm and 7:30pm, Fri 7/15 at 8pm, Sun 7/17 at 8pm, Mon 7/18 at 7:30pm, Tue 7/19 at 7:30pm, Sat 7/23 at 8pm, Sun 7/24 at 2:30pm, Tue 7/26 at 7:30pm, Fri 7/29 at 8pm, Sun 7/31 at 12 noon. Running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes including intermission.

Steven Dykes' Territories tells two erotic stories of betrayal and voyeurism. In The Spoils, an army official with a romantic's faith in the power of music finds his idealism shattered by a quartet of women who survive by compromise. a light gathering of dust is a highly sexual, darkly humorous study of the damage inflicted on lovers by a government that rewards personal betrayal.

Original music for The Spoils is composed by Paul Englishby. The casts of both The Spoils and a light gathering of dust feature NYIT Award nominee Alex Draper (Terrorism with New Group, Scenes From An Execution, No End of Blame, and Lovesong of the Electric Bear with PTP) as Shilling and ‘3'. The Spoils company also includes Nesba Crenshaw (Chapter Two at Gielgud Theatre-West End, An Argentinean Moment at Old Vic-West End, Frankenstein at the Guthrie), Gillian Durkee, Cori Hundt and Lilli Stein. The cast for a light gathering of dust is completed by Stephanie Janssen (Mrs. Warren's Profession on Broadway, Crave with PTP, The Umbrella Plays) and NYIT Award-winner Megan Byrne (The Europeans and No End of Blame with PTP).

Territories begins previews July 6 for a July 10 opening and runs through July 31. Performances take place on Wed 7/6 at 7:30pm, Fri 7/8 at 8pm, Sat 7/9 at 2:30pm, Sun 7/10 at 8pm, Wed 7/13 at 7:30pm, Sat 7/16 at 8pm, Sun 7/17 at 4pm, Thu 7/21 at 7:30pm, Fri 7/22 at 8pm, Sun 7/24 at 8pm, Wed 7/27 at 7:30pm, Sun 7/31 at 8pm. Running time is 2 hours and 15 minutes including intermission.

In Neal Bell's Spatter Pattern: or, How I Got Away With It, a screenwriter becomes entangled in the life of a university professor under investigation for a grisly murder. What begins as self-interest soon gives way to empathy, and a bond between men from seemingly opposite worlds inexorably deepens.

The cast includes Jeffries Thaiss, Adam Ludwig (Crave and Somewhere in the Pacific with PTP), Lucy Van Atta and Christo Grabowski.

Spatter Pattern: or, How I Got Away With It begins previews July 5 for a July 10 opening and runs through July 31. Performances take place on Tue 7/5 at 7:30pm, Thu 7/7 at 7:30pm, Sat 7/9 at 8pm, Sun 7/10 at 2:30pm, Sat 7/16 at 2:30pm, Sun 7/17 at 1pm, Wed 7/20 at 7:30pm, Sat 7/23 at 2:30pm, Thu 7/28 at 7:30pm, Sat 7/30 at 2:30pm and 8pm, Sun 7/31 at 4:30pm. Running time is 90 minutes.

On Monday, July 25, PTP/NYC will present "25 on 25", a special 25th Anniversary celebration featuring the work of Middlebury College artists. The event begins at 12 noon and runs until 12 midnight, and features 12 hours of readings, presentations and panel discussions of works written, directed and performed by Middlebury artists. The event is free of charge and open to the public. Participants include Christian Parker (Atlantic Theater), Carl Forsman (Keen Company), Cassidy Freeman (Smallville), Vanessa Branch (Pirates of the Caribbean), Matt Saldivar (Wedding Singer, Grease), Dan O'Brien, John Kolvenbach, among others.

PTP/NYC continues to redefine political theatre for the 21st century with an annual month long repertory season. The company's mandate is the presentation of highly theatrical and thought-provoking work of contemporary social and cultural relevance. In its 24 seasons the voices of PTP's writers have addressed art, pornography, AIDS, homelessness, censorship, totalitarianism, apartheid and gender wars.

PTP was founded in 1987 by the artistic team of Cheryl Faraone, Jim Petosa and Richard Romagnoli. Since moving to New York in 2007, PTP/NYC has produced 10 main stage productions and 36 late evening readings, workshops and experimental theatre pieces in their After Dark series. PTP/NYC has been the recipient of 5 NY Innovative Theatre Award nominations and their production of Howard Barker's Scenes From An Execution earned Jan Maxwell a 2009 Drama Desk nomination.

During its 20 seasons (1987-2006) in Washington DC and Maryland, the company received 7 Helen Hayes Award nominations and produced 75 main stage productions, along with numerous new play readings, late night experimental productions and a variety of ancillary events. PTP/NYC is affiliated with the Theatre Program of Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vermont.

The creative and production team consists of Hallie Zieselman (Set Design and Production Management), Mark Evancho (Lighting Design), Jule Emerson and Carlie Crawford (Costume Design for Victory), Emma Ermotti (Costume Design for Spatter Pattern and a light gathering of dust), Lilli Stein (Costume Design for The Spoils), Paul Ugalde (Fight Choreography for Victory), Lindsey Messmore (Assistant to the Director for Victory), Emily Rosenkrantz (Assistant to the Director for Territories), Becca Wear (Assistant to the Director for Spatter Pattern), Melissa Nathan (Stage Manager for Victory), Alex Mark (Stage Manager for Territories), and Michael Bradley Block (Stage Manager for Spatter Pattern).
