James Whiteside Invites Fans To Free Book Launch Event, August 20 Image

James Whiteside, ballet's boldest American principal dancer, celebrates the release of CENTER CENTER: A Funny, Sexy, Sad Almost-Memoir of a Boy in Ballet (Viking Books; August 17, 2021) with a public book signing and conversation event, August 20 at Creator House, located in Manhattan's Flatiron District.

With dreams to stand on the "center center" stage mark as a principal of American Ballet Theatre since the age of twelve, CENTER CENTER takes readers on a delightfully absurd and entertaining journey as he reveals how he got to the top of his field, while telling the tale of the two alter egos he created to subvert from the strict classical rigor of ballet. Teeming with humor and pathos, CENTER CENTER offers readers an entertaining peek behind the curtain of professional ballet in this singular romp from one of our generation's greatest creative minds. Raunchy, curious, and unapologetic, Whiteside celebrates pushing boundaries and expressing yourself to the fullest in this sparkling debut.

Offering an intimate sit down, complete with a conversation, a book signing and open bar, Whiteside invites dance and literary enthusiasts, fans, and friends to join him for an evening to take a deep dive into the inspirations and stories that jump off the pages, marking this exciting career milestone.

"I am so excited to party again in New York City and celebrate the release of my first book, Center Center!" exclaims Whiteside. "I hope you have as much fun as I know I will!"

James Whiteside's CENTER CENTER book signing, and conversation will take place on Friday, August 20, 2021, 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m at Creator House located at 35 E 21st Street, accessible by the 4, F, L, N and R trains.

This event is FREE and open to guests age 21+. Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations will be required to enter, and masks are strongly recommended.

RSVP is required: k.giannelli@jameswhiteside.org.
