According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to star opposite Hugh Jackman in the film Prisoners, directed by Denis Villeneuve. The film is set to begin production in early 2013.

The movie, written by Aaron Guzikowski, is about a carpenter (Jackman) who takes the law into his own hands after the kidnapping of his daughter and best friend. He, in turn, kidnaps the kidnapper, but begins to question whether he has the right man. Gyllenhaal would play a detective investigating the kidnappings.
Producers include Alcon's Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, with Kira Davis, Adam Kolbrenner, Ed McDonnell and John Stark.
Gyllenhaal is currently starring off-Broadway in If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet for Roundabout Theatre Company. The actor starred in Kenneth Lonergan’s revival of This is Our Youth, on London’s West End. For his performance he won an Evening Standard Theater Award for “Outstanding Newcomer.”
