The Blue Note is proud to present the JONATHAN BATISTE & THE STAY HUMAN BAND CD/DVD release for My N.Y. at Rockwood on November 1, 2011.

WHAT: Louisiana-born jazz pianist and vocalist Jonathan Batiste arrived in New York in 2004. Seven years later - after having shared the stage with jazz luminaries like Ornette Coleman, Cassandra Wilson and Wynton Marsalis - Batiste has emerged as a bandleader with a strong voice that is uniquely his own, mixing the sounds of New Orleans brass bands with the hustle and bustle of New York City. With his new CD/DVD MY N.Y. featuring his Stay Human Band, Batiste is bringing that sound to the people of New York, culminating in a free-of-charge release celebration at Rockwood Music Hall, Stage 2 on November 1 at 10:30pm. MY N.Y. was recorded entirely on street corners, in subway stations and even on subway cars - anywhere that could capture the atmosphere of a live concert with the natural sounds of the city. Riding above the music, higher than the honks of cars and noise of the subways are the sounds of joy from the countless New Yorkers who were there to participate in the making of MY N.Y., a soundtrack of New York through the eyes of Jon Batiste. Watch the trailer of MY N.Y. here.
