The National Touring company of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS will offer a special performance to benefit The Actors Fund on Wednesday, October 28, at 2 p.m. at the National Theatre. Proceeds from all ticket purchases will benefit The Actors Fund, which supports thousands of performing arts and entertainment professionals in need each year around the country.
JERSEY BOYS is the winner of the 2006 Best Musical Tony Award®, the 2006 Grammy Award® for Best Musical Show Album, and most recently, the 2009 Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
Directed by two-time Tony® Award-winner Des McAnuff, JERSEY BOYS is written by Academy Award-winner Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe, and choreography by Sergio Trujillo.
JERSEY BOYS is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi. It tells how a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide - all before they were thirty.
Actors Fund Special Performances are among the most thrilling theatrical experiences and the hottest tickets in town for those "in the know." Once a year, every Broadway show in New York and many on the road add a performance to their regular schedule as a benefit for The Actors Fund to help their colleagues in times of need. Each company donates their time and talent so that the performance can raise as much as possible, and all proceeds go directly to the programs and services of The Actors Fund. The excitement of these performances often surpasses that of an Opening Night - with excitement felt on both sides of the curtain.
Tickets for this special performance of JERSEY BOYS, starting at $51.50, are on sale now at the National Theatre Box Office and through Telecharge at www.telecharge.com, or by calling (800) 447-7400. For more information, please call (202) 628-6161 or visit www.NationalTheatre.org.
