It certainly has been a big week for the Philadelphia engagement of JERSEY BOYS. First, the production announced that the production broke the box office record at the Forrest Theatre for the sixth time, grossing $1,451,273 for the week ending November 28. This tops the previous record of $1,401,420, which they set the week ending November 21.
Also this week, company member Buck Hujabre suffered an injury during the middle of the December 4th performance, causing the show to come to a halt. He was replaced for the remainder of the performance and rushed to the hospital. BroadwayWorld received the following official statement on the incident:
"In Philadelphia on Saturday, Dec 4, there was a brief show stoppage when a cast member (Buck Hujabre) suffered a minor injury during a scene change. He was quickly replaced so that he could be rushed to the hospital as a precaution. He checked out fine and was released to return home. He will return to the show at the Forrest Theater tomorrow night, Tuesday, Dec 7, for the 7:30pm show."
JERSEY BOYS began performances in Philadelphia on Thursday, September 30 and will play through Sunday, December 12. JERSEY BOYS will next play Boston's Colonial Theatre from December 16 through January 30.
The cast of JERSEY BOYS is lead by Matt Bailey (Tommy DeVito), Joseph Leo Bwarie (Frankie Valli), original Broadway cast member Steve Gouveia (Nick Massi), Quinn VanAntwerp (Bob Gaudio), with Jonathan Hadley and Joseph Siravo.
The ensemble of JERSEY BOYS includes Candi Boyd, Jared Bradshaw, Christopher Deangelis, John Michael Dias, John Edwards, Alayna Gallo, John Gardiner, Buck Hujabre, Denise Payne, Brian Silverman, Courter Simmons, Ryan Strand, Kara Tremel, Mark Verdino and Kevin Worley.
