Stage Door Records are pleased to announce the previously unreleased original London cast recording of the 1974/75 musical 'Jack The Ripper' will be released on March 30th, 2015. The CD release continues Stage Door's London cast album series and commitment to preserve 'lost' British theatre scores of the past 50 years.

'Jack The Ripper' was adapted for the musical stage in 1974 and features a score by leading actor Ron Pember and book and lyrics by Pember with Denis De Marne. The musical reconstruction of the incidents relating to the historic East End murders of 1888 was told through the company of a Whitechapel Music Hall, a device that cleverly presented an atmospheric commentary on the murders as opposed to a historic re-enactment.

The production was first staged at London's Players' Theatre, opening on June 25th 1974 starring Terese Stevens ('Rock Carmen', 'Gigi' - US National Tour, 'Windy City', 'The Voice' Season 3), Eleanor McCready, Roy Stone and Charles West in the lead roles. Theatre impresario Larry Parnes subsequently transferred the production from the Players' to London's Ambassadors Theatre in September 1974 followed by theCambridge Theatre in February 1975, earning a nomination for 'Best Musical' at the 1974 Evening Standard Theatre Awards. The show would later debut in the United States, produced by Elliot Martin at Providence's Trinity Theatre in March 1979. Since the amateur production rights were released in 1976, 'Jack The Ripper' has remained a popular production choice with societies worldwide.

In February 1975 an original London cast album of the show was produced but would remain unreleased until now. 40 years after the show was last performed in the West End, Stage Door are pleased to release the original London cast album, digitally remastered from the master tapes.
