Italian Dance Connection Kicks Off 2015 New York City Programming Today

IDaCo (Vanessa Tamburi, Founder & Artistic Director; Enzo Celli, Founder) announced its 2015 platform of programming. The events-ranging from performances to panels to workshops-will showcase extraordinary Italian choreographers and dance companies over five days, today, May 19th through 23rd, at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York (686 Park Avenue), DANY Studios (305 West 38th Street) and the Sheen Center (18 Bleecker Street).

IDaCo is a platform and a container for the works of Italian artists or with an Italian component that succeed in creating unique and original scenic paths through body awareness, movement and contemporary visual arts. The project is curated and produced by FLUSSO dance project in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in New York and with the partnership of New York Italians, Umanism and In Scena! Italian Theater Festival.

IDaCo will open the series of events on Tuesday, May 19th at 11:00 am with a discussion of the role of Italian contemporary dance in Italy and the United States moderated by Valeria Orani on behalf of NID (New Italian Dance) Platform. The opening night festivities will feature a video screening of Italian contemporary dance in New York and abroad as well as site specific performances, beginning at 6:00 pm. The schedule of the day will be hosted by the Italian Cultural Institute in New York (686 Park Avenue, between 68th and 69th).

Enzo Celli (Artistic Director, VIVO ballet) will host a workshop and audition for VIVO art centre (Rome, Italy) at DANY Studios from 10:00 am to noon on Monday, May 18th.

A wide range of performances will be held at the Sheen Center Blackbox Theater (18 Bleecker Street, at Elizabeth Street) May 20th through 23rd. Participating companies include Alessia Della Casa, Amaris Dance, Dash Ensemble, Compagnia Excursus - Benedetta Capanna, Formazione Danza, Vanessa Tamburi/FLUSSO dance, Alessandra Giambelli + dancers, Gloom dance project, Caterina Rago Dance Company, Sara Galas Band, Breton Tyner - Bryan / Catherine Correa, Uselessness project, and VIVO Ballet - Enzo Celli.
