This Saturday, November 4, the cast of Into the Weeds will welcome back Stephanie D'Abruzzo as the guest star of the evening.
Presented by D. Benjamen Brown Productions, Into the Weeds is the long-running and critically-acclaimed musical revue that plays the Laurie Beechman Theatre at the West Bank Café located on 407 West 42nd St. at Ninth Avenue. The show has "taken root" since August and has extended through December 2.
D'Abruzzo made her Broadway debut in Avenue Q at the Golden Theatre. She received a Tony nomination and a Theatre World Award for her work in the Broadway production and a Drama Desk nomination for her work in the Off-Broadway mounting of Q. She has also been seen on stage in I Love You Because, the City Center Encores! production of Carnival, the all-star Chess concert, the Encores! 10th Anniversary Bash and the Stephen Sondheim celebration, Children and Art. D'Abruzzo has spent several seasons on "Sesame Street" and the kids show "Oobi" and was seen in VH-1's "I Love the 70s Part II" and "I Love the 80s 3-D."She will soon star in an upcoming musical episode of the NBC series "Scrubs." Avenue Q's Tony-winning composers, Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, have penned several songs for the episode.
Into the Weeds "is a fresh and funny celebration of over forty years of music written by quintessential New York City composer/performer Bill Weeden and his many talented collaborators including David Finkle, Sally Fay and Ethan Fein. During its successful run the show has welcomed many notable Broadway performers such as Annie Golden, Felicia Finley and Losing Louie star Matthew Arkin as guest stars," state notes.
The team of Weeden, Finkle and Fay won the 1980 NACCA Award (which later became the MAC) as Best Cabaret Comedy Group. Their musical Move It and It's Yours was named New Jersey's "Best New Musical" in 1998. Several of their songs are featured in Martin Charnin's popular The No-Frills Revue. He has also worked as an actor.
The cast, in addition to Weeden himself, includes Ted Anderson, Melissa Center, Grey Garrett, Hilary Mann, Kristen Rozanski, John Skocik, Michael Vaccaro, Eddie Varley, Amanda Weeden, & John Weisenburger.
