Menopause the Musical, the show that took the world by storm, entertaining over 17 million people in the US and across 500 cities worldwide. Translated into 9 languages, its wit and humor resonated with audiences everywhere. Now, the beloved characters – the Professional Woman, the Iowa Housewife, the Soap Star, and the Earth Mother – reunite for the highly-anticipated 2nd installment! Originally found in a department store, this time they're back, 5 years later, embarking on a girl's trip aboard a cruise. Because let's face it, who doesn't love a good old-fashioned girls' trip full of laughter, fun, and, of course, endless surprises! Get ready to set sail with these fabulous ladies once again!
Melanie Souza, who embodies the character of the delightful "Earth Mother," is a neighbor right here in Sarasota! It's as if Mother Nature herself decided to move in next door. She graciously shares her sisterhood with the cast and us, the local residents, sprinkling her magic on Van Wezel by reprising her enchanting role for the 3rd time! The “Earth Mother” character is a vibrant blend of storytelling, whether about her grandkids, navigating the ridiculous realm of dating in her golden years, or dealing with those fiery hot flashes. Whether she's spinning yarns about her family or sharing her misadventures in the dating world, her lively personality shines through. You can picture her fitting right in at any art gallery opening or setting up shop at any of Sarasota’s farmer's market’s selling her handmade beads. It's no wonder she adds a quirky, relatable charm to the show!
The show cleverly intertwines the personal lives of its characters, emphasizing the strength of their friendships as the driving force behind overcoming their challenges. The question of whether art imitates life or vice versa remains a mystery, leaving room for speculation. What's undeniable, however, is the relatability of the women's friendships depicted and the resilience that comes from supporting one another through life's unpredictable twists and turns. It reminds us that with true friends by our side, we too can weather any storm that comes our way.
Make sure not to miss out on the extravaganza that is the celebratory opening of Van Wezel’s Broadway series for 2024/2025. It's a show you don’t want to skip!
Tickets are still available for a Matinee and Evening Show on January 4th at Sarasota, Florida - Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
