The Great White Way's leading arts-education organization Inside Broadway will partner with the largest local union of professional musicians in the world, Local 802 AFM to offer a special "Broadway Boot Camp" from August 13-17 for 15 lucky NYC public school students from Brooklyn and Queens ages 11-15. This is the fourth year of the program and the second year Inside Broadway has partnered with Local 802 AFM.

Hosted at Local 802 AFM Headquarters at 322 West 48th Street in Manhattan, this year the theme for boot camp is "Character Counts" and the students will be working on a character song and monologue as well as learning a closing production number. The students will be working with Inside Broadway teaching artists and a member of Local 802.

"We're thrilled to kick off our 31st season with such an exciting program and to be partnering with such a fantastic organization such as Local 802 AFM" says Michael Presser, Inside Broadway's Executive Director, "And through our Boot Camp summer intensive, Inside Broadway wishes to foster a nurturing environment for students so that they have a better understanding of the creative process of musical theater and themselves."

Inside Broadway was established in 1982 by Michael Presser at the invitation of The Shubert Organization. Today, Inside Broadway reaches over 30,000 New York City students each year and develops and produces touring equity musical productions as well as a wide range of educational programs that allow participants to interact with professionals in the field and experience theatre hands-on in the classroom. Programs of Inside Broadway are funded by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, New York City Council, New York City Department of Education, New York City Department of Youth and Community Development, and numerous foundations and individuals.
