Backstage.com is reporting that Adrian Bailey of The Little Mermaid has officially filed suit against Disney, the show's producer as well the prop and set builders (based in Queens and Canada).

Bailey was injured after a fall through a trap door at least 36 feet prior to the start of a matinee on May 10th, 2008 Shortley after Bailey requested a court order to preserve a prop in the show in preparation for a potential lawsuit. He was treated treated for fractured wrists, a broken back, a shattered pelvis, a fracturEd Sternum, several fractured ribs and a fractured foot. Since the accident he has also has suffered from herniated vertebral discs that have required at least five surgies

Backstage.com reports, "Attorneys for Bailey indicated in May that the actor would sue when they filed an order to show cause, which requested that the set and prop be retained so it could be inspected. Today's suit, which seeks unspecified monetary damages, alleges that Bailey's injuries "were caused by the carelessness, negligence and recklessness of the defendants." Among the four causes of action in the suit, attorneys allege that there were insufficient "warnings and/or safety devices" that could have prevented the accident."

An assistant to Bailey's lawyers reelased the following statement from him, "My life has been changed forever. It will never be the same. My immediate goal is to somehow be able to walk up to my own apartment and care for myself. I try to stay positive. I look forward to being made whole some day and being fully compensated for my injuries."
