Indie-Pop Aces Come to Mercury Lounge 8/25 ImageCult-hit Brooklyn band Sky-Pony is led by the husband-and-wife team of Tony nominated writer Kyle Jarrow (bookwriter of Broadway's SpongeBob SquarePants, also creator of the CW television series Valor) and Tony nominated actress-singer Lauren Worsham (Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder). Sky-Pony have been called "indie-pop aces" (New York Times) and "a beautiful mash-up of music, choreography, costumes, projections and drama" (Village Voice).

This August, the band will hit the stage at NYC's Mercury Lounge. Expect a healthy dose of lush, lyrical, theatrical indie-pop. Rock concert meets performance art meets burlesque, you might say. Or "tight, fierce, hilarious and out of their minds" according to The Wall Street Journal. They'll be on a bill with the bands Los Elk, Melt and The Goodnight Darlings.

Date: Saturday August 25 - doors 7pm, Sky-Pony goes on at 8:30pm
Location: Mercury Lounge, 218 E Houston Street, NYC
Tickets: $10 in advance at https://www.ticketfly.com/event/1722796-los-elk-melt-sky-pony-new-york/

Sky-Pony is an art-pop band with theatrical roots. Based in Brooklyn, they've built a cult following for their lushly-orchestrated, darkly ironic songs and their shows which blur the lines between rock concert and performance art. In the past they've collaborated with circus artists, burlesque performers, monologists, even a fortune teller - as well as for creating the original theater piece The Wildness at Ars Nova in 2016 (nominated for a Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical). In 2016, the band released their debut LP Beautiful Monster on Knitting Factory Records, to strong reviews. That same year they also premiered their rock-theater hybrid piece The Wildness, presented by Ars Nova in collaboration with The Play Company. That too received strong reviews, and the show was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical. Alongside Worsham and Jarrow, the Sky-Pony lineup also features David Blasher (cello), Eric Day (bass), Kevin Wunderlich (guitar), Perry Silver (drums) plus Katie Lee Hill & Jessi Suzuki (backup vocals).
