Indianapolis Civic Theatre Holds Open Audition for 'The Wizard of Oz'

Indianapolis Civic Theatre will conduct open auditions for the musical "The Wizard of Oz" on Monday & Tuesday, Sept. 28 & 29 at 7pm (adults) and on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 4pm for the Munchkins (children 6-12). Auditions will be held at the Theatre facility, 3200 Cold Spring Road on the campus of Marian University. A free Audition Preparation Session is offered on Monday, Sept. 21 from 6-7pm at the Theatre.

Rehearsals are scheduled to begin Oct. 19. The musical will be presented on the Theatre's mainstage from Dec. 11 through Jan. 3, 2010. The script calls for a cast of approximately 5 men and 4 women in addition to a large singing and dancing ensemble and a large children's chorus appearing as Munchkins. Principal roles include Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, Glinda the Good Witch, the Wicked Witch of the West, Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. Performers are asked to prepare 16 bars of a song and may be asked to sing from the show. Actors should bring sheet music in the appropriate key and dress comfortably for dancing. An accompanist will be provided.
