The world premiere of the new play Indian Blood by A.R. Gurney, presented by Primary Stages, will end its limited engagement Saturday evening, September 2 at 8:00PM. On closing, the play will have had 15 previews and 27 regular performances.

Under the direction of Mark Lamos, Indian Blood stars Matthew Arkin, Jeremy Blackman, Jack Gilpin, Rebecca Luker, Katherine McGrath, John McMartin, Charles Socarides and Pamela Payton-Wright. The Primary Stages production of Indian Blood began performances Tuesday, July 25, at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Opening Night was Wednesday, August 9.

"Indian Blood by A.R. Gurney is a witty, warm, and thoroughly delightful comedy about family and coming-of-age. Young Eddie uses his Indian ancestry as a cause and an excuse for his adolescent attacks on the genteel world around him. Is it his ties to the Seneca tribe or his talent as a budding artist that causes his privileged world to turn upside down?," state Primary Stages notes. A prolific playwright, A. R. Gurney has written The Dining Room, Sylvia, Love Letters, The Fourth Wall, and Strictly Academic. Indian Blood is the third A.R. Gurney play produced by Primary Stages.

Primary Stages continues the 2006-2007 season with the New York premieres of Southern Comforts by Kathleen Clark with direction by Judith Ivey (September 19, 2006 - October 29, 2006) and the new musical Adrift in Macao, with book and lyrics by Christopher Durang, music by Peter Melnick, choreography by Christopher Gattelli, and direction by Sheryl Kaller (January 23, 2007 - March 4, 2007). The 2006-2007 season closes with the world premiere of Terrence McNally's new play Deuce, featuring Marian Seldes (March 20, 2007 - April 29, 2007).
