Dialogue with Three Chords is hosting staged readings of work by independent playwrights. Curated by Stephen Gracia, the show features work selected from the community of artists who have lent their talents to previous Dialogue with Three Chords productions.

A MAD WOMAN'S BREAKFAST, written by Jennifer Skura and directed by Greg Skura, presents an unusual friendship forged between two loners trying to escape their abusive pasts. THE MOUTH OF THE SOUTH AND THE VOICE OF REASON, written by Bret Richard Hoskins and directed by Thomas James Lombardo, features two brothers operating a moonshine business in the South, a family inheritance stained with a violent and racist history. The performance wraps with THE TALE OF THE JOHNSON BOYS, written by D. Nigro and directed by Colby Minifie. The show starts at 8pm on July 26, at the "Den at Dennehy's," downstairs at Mr. Dennehy’s pub on 63 Carmine Street in Manhattan. Admission is free with a $3 suggested donation.

A MAD WOMAN'S BREAKFAST, according to Jennifer Skura, “is a story about an unusual New York City friendship between two special loners – Maxene, a naïve woman hiding from her debilitating family and Angus, a peculiar man ruled by his neurotic impulses.” Maxene’s sister Katherine tracks Maxene down, bringing dysfunction and an empty suitcase for her sister. Skura has starred in many DIALOGUE WITH THREE CHORDS productions, and worked with their resident playwright Stephen Gracia to develop her original work. “She has a wonderfully unique voice that hopefully we can help her get out there more often,” Gracia remarks.

THE MOUTH OF THE SOUTH AND THE VOICE OF REASON and THE TALE OF THE JOHNSON BOYS are both presented by Look at the Fish Theatre company’s artistic director Thomas James Lombardo, who has also acted in DIALOGUE WITH THREE CHORDS productions. This event will showcase the writers in Look At The Fish Theatre company,” says Lombardo, “before we mount our second production of Don Nigro's Genesis Collection Of Plays opening this August.” Both works explore brothers facing difficult family histories which weigh on their actions and consciences. Lombardo founded the Look at the Fish Theatre Company last year with help from Stephen Gracia, a fellow alumnus of Brooklyn College.

A MAD WOMAN'S BREAKFAST feature Kendra Leigh Landon as Maxene, Sean Meehan as Angus and Edie Nugent as Katherine. THE MOUTH OF THE SOUTH AND THE VOICE OF REASON features Tolan Alman as Zack, Jared Mark Smith as Jed, and Christopher Tocco as Zeke. THE TALE OF THE JOHNSON BOYS features Evan Daves as Henry and Thomas James Lombardo as John.

DIALOGUE WITH THREE CHORDS was founded by Stephen Gracia and Michael LoPorto and applies the do-it-yourself philosophy of punk to the stage and features short plays and live music. Their work has also been produced at Sargent Theatre, Makor Theater, DUMBO Theatre Exchange, Levenson Hall at Brooklyn College, and the Theaters at 45 Bleecker.
