THE INTERART DEVELOPMENT SERIES, in collaboration with ZENA GROUP THEATER,  present a workshop production of a new play by Josh Liveright entitled ILLUMINATION ROUNDS.  The play will receive nine performances – Thursdays through Saturdays for three weeks beginning  THURSDAY, DECEMBER 2 and closing on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 18 at 8:00PM at the INTERART ANNEX (500 West 52nd Street at the corner of 52nd Street and 10th Avenue in Hell's Kitchen).

In the midst of a horrible siege in Philadelphia, a war journalist mining for "truth" finds himself trapped in an abandoned room with a woman sniper fighting for her "freedom" during the final days of civil war.  The Bill of Rights has been permanently suspended and no one is exempt from suspicion of being a "terrorist".  ILLUMINATION ROUNDS is the story of how the journalist and sniper attempt to transcend their fears and prejudices in a climate of extreme violence and fear.  The play "illuminates" the faces of these two people and so illuminates the forces that have brought them to this point in their lives.  In the end, they are profoundly changed by each other.

This play is a meditation on our current culture of fear and represents the possibility of what might happen to our country if we don't wake up sooner rather than later.

ILLUMINATION ROUNDS is a new play by Josh Liveright.  Directed by Paul Smithyman.  Performed by Sonja Rzepski, Josh Liveright and David Jeness.  Sets by Paul Smithyman.  Lights by Bill Cusick.  Sound by David Lawson.  Stage managed by Mary Leach.
