The Provincetown Theater is thrilled to announce that performances by Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel have sold in unprecedented fashion. In what has been a first for The Provincetown Theater, tickets for all four Idina Menzel performances from August 20 – 23, 2005 sold in record time.

"We're absolutely thrilled with the turnout for Idina Menzel," says Joseph Guglielmo, managing director of The Provincetown Theater. "We want to thank the entire theatre community in Provincetown for their overwhelming support. The enormous interest and rapid ticket sales have shown us what this Theater is capable of achieving. We look forward to bringing other talented artists like Idina Menzel to The Provincetown Theater in the future."

The rapid ticket sales for Idina Menzel come not long after an impressive run of "A Girl Called Dusty" presented by the Provincetown Repertory Theatre at The Provincetown Theater. "Dusty" almost sold out the entire run by a thread and was wildly popular among locals and tourists alike.

Idina Menzel will appear this fall in the eagerly-anticipated film version of Broadway's Rent, reprising her Tony-nominated performance of Maureen. Born in New York, the multitalented performer has been singing since the age of five. Menzel made her Broadway debut in the original cast of Rent. She went on to win the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her role as Elphaba, The Wicked Witch of the West, in WICKED.

About the Theater

The Provincetown Theater opened at 238 Bradford Street as Provincetown's first playhouse in over 25 years. Formerly the site of the old Provincetown Mechanic's Building, the theater opened in 2004 and houses two resident theater companies: The Provincetown Theatre Company (PTC), a community-based theatre company, and the Provincetown Repertory Theatre (REP), a professional theatre operating under arrangement with Actors' Equity Association. In addition to being a permanent home for the PTC and REP, the theater offers performance and meeting space for other community, business and performing arts organizations on Cape Cod and beyond.
