As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Andrew Lloyd Webber is at work on a project with former Pussycat Doll and X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger, TV personality and producer Simon Cowell and presenter Myleene Klass. Today, Lloyd Webber revealed to The Sun that the project is none other than a television special to celebrate his prolific career.
Michael Ball will host the special, which will air on ITV at a date to be announced. Ball - who has appeared in several Lloyd Webber musicals in both London and New York - will close the show with "Love Changes Everything" from the composer's 1989 musical ASPECTS OF LOVE.
"I was flattered when ITV approached me about a 90-minute special," Lloyd Webber said. "I said I would only do it if it was not some po-faced tribute to a bloke who's about to collect his bus pass. I also said it must include the wet sari number from Bombay Dreams! I still don't know what I'm letting myself in for, especially as Simon Cowell has filmed an interview for the show."
In addition to Scherzinger, Klass and Cowell, former Spice Girl Melanie C. is slated to appear along with Denise Van Outen and Kimberley Walsh.
ITV head John Kaye Cooper said in a statement: "Andrew's contribution to musical theatre is unrivalled. We are delighted to be celebrating his four decades in the West End with an evening that promises some spectacular performances and a deeper insight into the man himself."
