IRTE, the Improvisational Repertory Theatre Ensemble, continues its third season of improvised shows. After its hit season opener THE SCARY (which Casual Comedy News called "a terrifying trifecta of laughter, looneys, and even live music"), the NYC-based ensemble of comedy actors and writers returns with its own unique brand of original themed, character-driven improvisational shows performed in rep. tonight, May 17, IRTE opens its second show at The Producers Club, Small Claims. In this courtroom, size matters! Your neighbor ran over your mailbox, your friend won't pay for that concert ticket and your ex left and took your dog. Don't get mad. Take 'em to court IRTE style!
Small Claims, directed by Curt Dixon (IRTE founding member, Gotham City Improv faculty and main stage co.), is a live improvised spoof of "reality" court shows, a hilarious cross between Judge Judy and Night Court!
IRTE's jury of fun - led by artistic director Nannette Deasy - include Robert Baumgardner, Curt Dixon, Graceann Dorse, Jamie Maloney, and Marcia Sofley. For Small Claims, they will be joined by guest performer Brian Michael (Broadway Comedy Club, Blue Bloods CBS, Gotham City Improv main stage co.). The group's collective credits include off-Broadway theater, national tours and feature film. Each show will include appearances by talented up and comers from the NY indie music scene. Past musical guests have included Craig Greenberg, Pablo (Bluesboy), Gift of Tongues, Carla Ulbrich, Charlotte Cornfield, Jason Soffer, Jessica Delfino, Matt Dallow, Mr. Big Head, Positive Feedback, Squirm and Germ, Summer & Eve and The Vigilante.Videos
