Director Jon M. Chu says it was entirely Lin-Manuel Miranda's idea to tie the two musicals together in this sneaky way.
Fans of Hamilton were very excited to find a hidden Easter egg in the new In The Heights movie, which paid homage to the hit musical.
During a scene in which Kevin Rosario (played by Jimmy Smits) is on hold to talk to Stanford, the hold music is a little instrumental of "You'll Be Back", the iconic song sung by King George III in Hamilton!
Director Jon M. Chu told The Wrap that it was entirely Lin-Manuel Miranda's idea to tie the two musicals together in this sneaky way.
"That was indeed a Lin idea, and we wanted to make it a Muzak version," Chu said. "It's all part of the 'Lin-ematic Universe."
