'I'm Mindful ...of my Anxiety', a one woman show written and performed by Elizabeth Wine will take place at Medicine Show Theatre on Friday and Saturday evening from September 22nd thru October 14th. Ashley Wren Collins directs.
Mindfulness is typically associated with awareness and clarity over our lives and actions. But for Elizabeth Wine mindfulness is shattered by a frantic mental kaleidoscope which compels her to absorb so much information at any one moment that her concentration is always in jeopardy, and her nerves are always on end. A willing student, she's tried to conquer her fractured focus by learning a host skills...yoga, acting classes that emphasized the embodiment of animals and elusive attempts to master the French language. What happened to cause her such anxiety? From dutiful student in her early years, praised by her mother for her remarkable memory, to a hyper financial reporter, trying to satisfy demanding editors while advising readers on investments that would protect them from eating catfood in their dotage, Elizabeth found her mind being turned from steel trap to jello. The best help, however, in her quest to remain calm in an increasingly frantic world may come from two unlikely sources...Beethoven and Joe DiMaggio.
Elizabeth Wine is an NYC based writer, actor and theater producer who after a successful career as a journalist and digital consultant returned to her first love, the theater. She became a company member of the Obie Award winning
