ILVX (stylized as I.L.V.X.), an internet-based department store, dropped major brands and shifted focus towards independent designers. The retailer got its start by working with upscale luxury brands to sell their overstocked inventory and quickly became a popular destination for price-savvy shoppers. Soliel Styles is the most recent of major luxury brands dropped from I.L.V.X.'s "sale-driven" web store, ILVX.com.
Christie Day, the company's Catalog Director, says the move was made after several months of consideration. Within a few years of their launch, ILVX had become well-known for their unusual sales which - instead of ending after a particular duration - last until all of the sale products sell out. After the last holiday season of selling the same products from the same brands as all the other department stores, however, Christie and the ILVX team started feeling a lack of identity in the shopping industry. The only thing setting them apart from their counterparts were their low prices but that wasn't enough.
"We started featuring products from small independent designers and got an incredible response!" says Christie Day. Within a few months, there were as many products from independent designers and boutiques as from major brands. After months of struggling to offer both shopping concepts, the company recently decided to commit entirely to the very unique and very bold in modern shopping, boutiques.
The goal is simple: to completely remove the gap between independent design and the shoppers who love it. "Every city has its hidden gems, small but passionate and talented designers that dress the boldest and hottest of shoppers. We want to make those designs available to the world."
I.L.V.X. plans to feature over 70 independent designers and boutiques by this November while offering discounts of up to 80% on products from their "Designer Spotlight". To stay up to date on the latest and hottest deals from I.L.V.X., sign up for their exclusive email newsletter at ILVX.com.
