After last week's heartbreak of sending Burnell home, the contestants took on the songs of Burt Bacharach on tonight's episode of American Idol. It was sure to be an intense and competitive night as only 6 remain. The contestants would be singing two songs each

Angie was up first. I have never heard the song before but as always she was great. The song itself was a bit boring, but she did well with what she was given. The judges said that they did not see a connection between her and the song.

Amber was up next and she sang I Say A Little Pray For You it was easy to tell that she really liked her song choice. The performance was fun to watch and the audience enjoyed it as well. The judges loved it and gave positive comments all around.

Lazaro went with a song by The Carpenters. It seems as though his streak of good performances was short lived. He was drowned out by the music and was pitchy. The judges were harsh and unfortunately that performance may be his last.

What the World Needs Now is Love Sweet Love was the song choice for Kree and it was an enjoyable performance. She slowed the song up a bit and it worked really well for her voice. The judges agreed saying that it was the best she has sung so far on the show.

Janelle went with I'll Never Fall in Love Again by Dionne Warwick. It was a good song choice for her but it did fall a little short of being entertaining. Keith liked the performance while Mariah, Nicki and Randy weren't really fond of it.

Singing another Dionne Warwick classic was Candice. At this point in the competition it may be safe to say that Candice has got a good shot at winning American Idol. The power and control in her voice completely took over the song and got the judges on their feet.

It was then time for round two. Each contestant sang a song that they wish they had written.

Kari Jobe was the inspiration for Angie when she was asked which song she wish she had written. She was back on her piano which was a real treat for the song When Love Came Down. I had never heard the song before and It really made me want to listen to the original song. It was a fantastic performance.

Next up was Amber with Love on Top by Beyonce and she did a great job. It was a really fun performance to watch and the judges liked it as well.

Lazaro took on Angels by Robbie Williams and it was slightly better than his first performance. Not much was said by the judges.

Kree went with Help Me Make it Through The Night by Kris Kristofferson and it was a good performance. I had never heard the song before but I did find it quite enjoyable.

Country singer Janelle sang a song by Garth Brooks called The Dance. For me it was just ok. It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything too special either. The judges liked it but had a lot of advice for her to better her next performance.

Last but not least was Candice and she sang Love Song. I was not familiar with the song but I really liked it after the first listen. Her performance brought some to tears which lead to tears of her own. She audience was still cheering as the recap roll began. It was by far the best performance of the night.

As always tune in tomorrow night when another contestant is eliminated. Also the original American idol Kelly Clarkson performs.
