After a thrilling night of the top 5 girls, tonight we said goodbye to another contestant. To kick of the show, the ladies performed a medley of Donna Summer hits. Based on that performance it was easy to see why the remaining contestants have made it this far.

After the commercial break, Ryan brought Angie to the center of the stage. After recapping her performances Ryan told her to go sit back down with the other girls. He then brought Candice to center stage. As the judges were giving Candice more feedback, Paula Abdul surprised the audience and Candice.

Ten years ago Clay Aiken came in second during season two and tonight he returned to the Idol stage. Singing Bridge Over Troubled Water, Clay brought back a song that he sang during his season. Being a fan of Clay when he was on the show, it was a nice surprise.

Next under the microscope was Janelle. Jimmy spoke during the recap and said that he did not feel the performance. One person that did was Dolly Parton who sent in a message of encouragement and love. Next up was Amber and she received positive comments again.

Kree's highlights were shown next and looking back I have to say that I liked her performances much better the second time. Jimmy did comment on her performances, but he also made a note about how he enjoyed the disagreement last night between Mariah and Nicki.

It was then time to revisit the moments on the show made famous by season 3 winner Fantasia. She sang a new song and it was quite enjoyable. With that performance she reminded everyone why she won. It was an emotional performance that lead to a standing ovation.

The final results were in and Ryan revealed that Candice, Angie and Amber were the top 3. That left Kree and Janelle in the bottom 2. In an intense moment, it was announced that Janelle had received the least votes for the week. She sang for the save, but unfortunately only 2 judges said yes.

Watch American Idol next week when the competition gets more intense and the top three is revealed.
