I Mean What?!? the popular fashion and lifestyle blog was founded in 2009 looking to find truth and humor in a world obsessed with fashion, celebrity and politics. Today, with inspiration from the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America), I Mean What?!? is changing it's manifesto by incorporating a new initiative that promotes key charities and fundraising campaigns.
"The idea is to offer my smart, loyal readers a fresh layer of meaningful content alongside my snarky Op-Ed pieces. These compelling non-profits and causes need to be recognized for their outstanding work," says Abe Gurko, founder of I Mean What?!? and Huffington Post contributor."We launched the new content in conjunction with the CFDA's "Fashion Targets Breast Cancer" T-shirt Campaign featuring Karolina Kurkova because of our fashion savvy audience. I also lost my best friend Donna to cancer so the messaging in this campaign is really important to me. We are still in the Early Stages of this new platform and a ton of other non-profits and celeb supporters have jumped on board which means something must be meshing."
I Mean What is working with DonorsChoose.org, (Steven Colbert sits on the board), to help grade school classes raise funds for creative projects like costume design for "The Wizard of Oz" and "Time for Kids" which nurtures students (and next generation of bloggers) to study current events. Other charities include "PETA" and "NY CLASS" supported by Lea Michele that aims to help carriage horses in Central Park. "Dress for Success" (Roy Teeluck and Sigourney Weaver), "Silver Hill Hospital" (Carrie Fisher) "Musicares" (Juliette Lewis) and "Family Equality Council" (Alan Cumming) are also on board.
"My readers are tastemakers and influencers who have a generous capacity to give when presented with situations and causes that need attention. I tried to select a cross section of causes, some grassroots, whose stories may strike a personal cord with people", Gurko says. "The goal is to provide the best of both worlds - humor and dignity - two words that live together magnificently. The new slogan is, "Welcome to the New I Mean What, Where it's All About Charity and I Mean Business!"
I Mean What?!? will provide a platform for charities to promote and market their missions via dedicated email marketing, advertorial/editorial opportunities and custom programming.
