FRIGID New York @ Horse Trade will present a Cuppie 43 Productions (KL Thomas, Producer) presentation of Libby Emmons' I Am Not An Allegory (these are people I know), directed by Ali Ayala. The show will run March 10-26 at UNDER St. Marks (94 St. Marks Place between 1st Avenue and Avenue A) with performances Thursday through Sunday at 8pm. Tickets ($20) may be purchased in advance at www.horseTRADE.info. The show runs approximately 70 minutes, with no intermission.
I Am Not an Allegory (these are people i know), confronts sex, faith, and race among the overeducated underachievers that exist in all of our lives, and is told through the prism of six women who all take the same dance class.
The show will feature Conor Daniel Bartram, Clifford Ray Berry, Masonya Berry, Mateo D'Amato, Natalya Krimgold, Olivia Nice, Lindsay Perry, Kyra Sims, and KL Thomas.
LIBBY EMMONS (Playwright) Libby's plays include I Am Not an Allegory (these are people i know), Puff Puff (Festival of the Offensive, NYC 2014, winner "Most Offensive"), Radio Mara Mara (FringeNYC 2013), Zeropia (Clubbed Thumb Biennial Commission 2009), The Girls from Afar (East/West Players, LA, 2010), "Soft Little Song Like Doves," (upcoming Best Short Plays, 2015, Smith & Krause), "Animal/Animal," (Best Short Plays, 2013, Smith & Krause), & many more. Co-founder of the short play series Sticky (upcoming Lovecraft Bar, April 2016, NYC). Graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and Columbia University School of the Arts. ALI AYALA (Director) has been a director and co-producer with Blue Box World since 2004. She has directed dozens of plays for the Sticky series, which was in residence at Bowery Poetry Club from 2007-2012. In addition to shorts, Ali has directed the company's longer form work, including I Am Not an Allegory (these are people i know), Bowery Poetry Club, 2011; Connie in Detroit, Bowery Poetry Club and TARTE Festival, 2010; The Sustainable Future, Galapagos Art Space, 2006; all NYC.
